Fashion
Design and Clothing Technology (FDCT) - Full Time

18 months; 3 semesters
Description:
This program focuses on the fashion industry and aims to inform
and educate the student of industry practices and culture. It is
an intensive technical design program primarily aimed at students
who desire to evolve design and technical skills to a higher professional
level.
Details:
Semester
I: Foundation [20 weeks]
This term provides
the foundation for further study and to eventual specialization,
if so required. It concentrates on the underlying principles and
skills of Design, Illustration, Pattern Making, Draping, Grading
and Garment Construction. The various modules culminate in a project
that encompasses all aspects of the semester. Experience gained
from this semester is used and integrated into Semesters II and
III.
Semester
II: In depth study and
Portfolio Development [22 weeks]
This term revolves
around helping students explore their area of interest while working
on various projects. These projects are designed to enable the student
to experience the different aspects of garment design and manufacturing.
It will cover modules on Merchandising, Retailing and basic Computer
Aided Design as well. The students should be able to create a professional
portfolio by the end of this term.
Semester
III: Internship and final collection presentation
[22 weeks]
The students will be
exposed to the fashion industry for work experience, which will
in turn give them an insight into the current practices and market
requirements. On return from their internship, they design and produce
their final collection supported by research and customer profiles,
after which this collection is showcased in a grand fashion show,
‘PORTFOLIO’.
