Fashion Design and Clothing Technology (FDCT)
This program focuses on the fashion industry and aims to inform and educate the student of industry practices and culture. It is an intensive technical design program primarily aimed at students who desire to evolve design and technical skills to a higher professional level.

Course Details:

A “hands on” program that focuses on the fashion industry and educates the student of industry practices and culture. It is an intensive technical design program primarily aimed at students who desire to evolve design and technical skills to a higher professional level.

Semester I:

Foundation [20 weeks]
This semester lays the foundation by concentrating on the underlying principles and skills of Design, Illustration, Pattern Making, Fabric Study and Garment Construction. The various modules culminate in a project that encompasses all aspects of the semester.

Semester II:

In depth study and Portfolio Development [22 weeks]
This semester prepares students for the industry by further enhancing their skills through various projects encompassing different aspects of garment design and manufacturing. The student is also introduced to modules on fashion merchandising, retailing and Computer Aided Design. By the end of this term, students will have created their professional portfolio.

Semester III:

Internship and fashion show [22 weeks]
The student is exposed to the fashion industry for work experience during their internship period of 6 weeks, which will in turn give students an insight into the current practices and market requirements. On return from their internship, students begin working on their final design project and produce a collection supported by research and customer profiles. This collection will be then showcased in.
