About the UAE Fashion Awards

The Finalists for the UAE Fashion Awards 2006:

Organised by the Sharjah Ladies Club, the UAE Fashion Awards 2006 invited young designers who are yet to be established in the fashion industry, to submit their designs for night/evening wear for the competition. The winners were chosen from over 100 entries coming from across the UAE and also many other countries.
The entries were judged by a group of women who between them have several years’ international experience in the field of fashion design. The members of the judging committee of the first UAE Fashion Awards were:

Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi – Vice President of Sharjah Ladies Club
Lily Amir Arjomand, the General Merchandise Manager for Saks Fifth Avenue
Mary Serafin, Director and Editor at Large of L'Officiel Middle East, ITP Publishing
Ayesha Depala – a Fashion Designer from India, and,
Smitha Menon – the Director of Operations for Pearl Design Center.
